The identity of Château Figeac begins with its geology. Positioned at the highest point of the Saint-Émilion plateau, the estate sits on gravel deposits up to 10 metres deep in places—a composition more characteristic of Pauillac and the Left Bank than the clay and limestone that dominate most of Saint-Émilion.
These ancient Günz gravel beds, transported by glacial rivers hundreds of thousands of years ago, provide excellent drainage and natural heat retention.
